How do professional’s clean driveways and patios?
Pressure Fresh UK have been cleaning driveways and patios for over 15 years, and in that time, we have cleaned a variety of surfaces from porcelain to limestone, as well as different stones including Indian sandstone, Purbeck stone and various types of block paving and we specailse in black spot removal.
To ensure we maintain the highest standards we follow a step-by-step plan which is tailored to your driveway or patio. For example:
Step 1
On arrival we complete a survey to establish where the water supply is, the quality of the water pressure, and drainage at the property. This is because jet washing creates a large water flow to help in the cleaning of the surface.
Step 2
Next, we’ll assess the best approach for cleaning your driveway or patio depending on the type of surface – whether that involves chemical products or an eco-friendlier method such as steam cleaning with superheated water. This process is very effective and involves passing water through a diesel heated boiler system to heat the water to 150° to destroy the biofilm on the surface of the driveway. Soft surfaces can be damaged easily with high pressure, so this assessment is imperative to ensure the best results.
Step 3
Block paving is a popular choice for driveways as well as different types of stone – especially for patios. If the surface is stone, we will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine which chemical/s are suitable to use on it. For instance, we know from experience that limestone is very fragile and can be damaged with certain chemicals – we offer free test patches on request for your peace of mind.
Step 4
Once we have completed our assessment and what approach is needed, we can begin the cleaning process. We are always mindful of any organic plants, and the surrounding trees and grass, particularly if we are using chemicals.
In the case of a driveway, we start cleaning from the top nearest the property, out to the road, or if on a slope from the road, down to the property. Any slurry coming off the driveway or patio is disposed of as we work. For instance, for block paving, we blow the debris off the surface and then wash the surface at high pressure before any chemicals are used. Most importantly, our approach is bespoke to each driveway or patio and how soiled it is.
Step 5
Once the cleaning is complete, we go through a finishing process to ensure the best possible results for your driveway or patio. If the surface is block paving we apply sugar kiln dried sand, which is swept in all the joints that have been cleaned out during the cleaning process. Once the sand has been applied, we then gently use a blower to blow off any excess sand.
Then you can stand back and admire your sparkling clean driveway or enjoy a drink on your perfect patio!
To summarise…
There are many different approaches to cleaning driveways and patios, whether you have porcelain stones or concrete blocks or slabs – the most important thing is that you hire a professional to guarantee top results. Why? Because we’ve already done all the hard work for you by knowing the right approach to use – knowledge which we’ve gained through our fifteen years of experience and research into the best processes for the cleaning driveways and patios.
